One thing I've grown to realize over the years is that our expectations can taint a "big night out" (#adulting, anyone?). We put tons of pressure on ourselves and others to meet our expectations for that perfect evening—which, we believe, sets the tone for our entire weekend. Instead of feeling joyful for whatever happens (planned or not), we can paint a perfect picture and expect everyone to color in the lines.

And when we do this, we tend to set ourselves up for a not-so-fun night. With family, travel, traffic, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc. “perfection” just isn’t a realistic expectation on a night out (or probably ever...).

I've decided to start taking a different approach and wanted to invite you, dear reader, to join. It’s simple: Forget the pressure to have the perfect night out, the fresh 'do, the cool party, the right crew ... just thinking about this is making me tired! Ring in your Friday night with your intentions—not perfection—in mind from the comfort of your own home.

Staying in doesn't need to be a snooze fest (and, unfortunately, doesn't guarantee it'll be drama free), but this approach affords you more power over the tone you set for your weekend. Think about who you want to be and how you want to feel this weekend, then work backwards to create your ideal night to slide into me-time. Maybe it's a little downward dog and a long bath, a cuddle sesh with the pup, a dance off in the privacy of your own home, or getting tipsy with the crew—either way, feel the freedom to do what will help you recharge with your intentions front of mind.

And consider me your Night In DJ: I've created the perfect mix for the person who wants to spend their weekend dancing, partying, or just chilling.
